Na Naszych oczach tworzy się historia. Rosja w brutalny sposób zaatakowała suwerenne, europejskie państwo – Ukrainę. Ponad milion ludzi szukających bezpiecznego schronienia przed okrucieństwem wojny, znalazło je między innymi w Polsce.

Trudne czasy wymagają szczególnych czynów solidarności z walczącą o wolność Ukrainą. Polska zdaje egzamin, nieustannie wspiera swojego zaatakowanego sąsiada niosąc pomoc humanitarną ponad milionowi uchodźców, którzy dotarli na nasze terytorium. Rząd polski wysyła jasny przekaz: nikt nie zostanie bez pomocy.

Dla Polski priorytetem jest przede wszystkim udzielenie bezpiecznego schronienia ofiarom wojny, jednakże nie można zapomnieć, że istotnym elementem pomocy są nakłady finansowe. W tym przypadku, ogromne nakłady finansowe. Potrzebna jest nam zatem solidarność państw i organizacji międzynarodowych, także na płaszczyźnie gospodarczej. Dlatego Rada Gospodarcza Strefy Wolnego Słowa w liście do Przewodniczącej Komisji Europejskiej Ursuli von der Leyen zaapelowała o niezwłoczne odblokowanie Polsce funduszy z Krajowego Planu Odbudowy. Dear Mrs. President,

Ukraine has been brutally attacked by Russia. As a consequence, over one million Ukrainians, mainly women and children have fled for their lives. Most of them have found shelter and a safe haven on Polish territory. In this difficult time, it is essential to support and help the refugees fleeing from the horror of war. Polish people rose to the challenge, widely opening not only their hearts, but also their own homes inviting the ones in need. Nobody has been left without help.

Due to the dramatic war situation and in relation to the rising uncertainty, the financial market experienced some turbulences. The Polish Zloty has visibly depreciated. Numerous efforts of the Polish monetary and governmental authorities to maintain the value of our currency resulting from macroeconomic foundations are admirable and worth recognition.

It is beyond doubt that we need solidarity between countries and international organizations, also on the economical level. Taking all of this into consideration, I ask of you, Mrs. President, to immediately release the funds from the National Recover Plan. By doing so, the Board would send a positive signal to the Foreign Exchange Market and would stabilize the PLN exchange rate. This would consequently lower the inflation pressures and contribute to mitigating the tension among millions of Polish people.

I am convinced that only together and only by rising above the animosities will we be able to effectively face the challenges ahead of us. Cooperation, especially in these dire moments, is one of the key foundations for the European integrity. Therefore, one more time, I plead the President of the European Commission to accept the Polish Recovery Plan. It is of the utmost importance to us now.
